Sepsis. The Silent Killer. Despite this condition being in the media more than ever following the release of the film Starfish earlier this year and the work of the UK Sepsis Trust raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of sepsis there has not been so much focus on what happens if you survive. This programme will highlight how the different NHS trusts are dealing with sepsis and are working with staff to help identify the Sepsis 6, but also how people are affected by the effects of the condition. Amputation is often a consequence of the condition. Suddenly a person faces a life full of immense challenges and so different to their life before sepsis. We still need to work hard to raise awareness of the condition and Boyes Turner hope to continue to do so with their work and support of the UK Sepsis Trust.
Jayne Carpenter, 49, a nurse from Merthyr Tydfil, developed sepsis and was given treatment early enough to save her. Even so, her life would never be the same again.
