Edward Dee of Clifton Primary School has become the latest victim of this deadly illness, and now his school and classmates are committed to raising awareness about the signs and symptoms so that hopefully this tragedy can be avoided in the future.
Edward died on Sunday, after falling ill and being taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital. His schoolmates were told of his death on Monday.
The school is now helping to plan a walk on Sunday, where pupils and teachers will hand out leaflets on the symptoms of the infection. They are committed to raising money for the meningitis charities that work so hard to raise awareness of the illness, and work towards vaccines to protect everyone against it.
“People need to be more aware of the signs of meningitis.”
