I read a shocking statistic the other day. Dr Ron Daniels BEM, Founder and CEO of UK Sepsis Trust tweeted that since Christmas Day almost 6,000 people have died from sepsis in the UK. This made me realise even more that awareness of this deadly illness is so vital.
Today, on Valentines Day, the UK Sepsis Trust are launching their awareness campaign: Kiss Goodbye to Sepsis and it's very easy to get involved. All you need to do is post a red lipstick selfie and Text KGTS10 £5 to70070 to donate to such a worthy cause.
I really hope that the campaign is successful in raising awareness because it's paramount that everyone is aware of what sepsis is, what the symptoms are and that it is a medical emergency.
"Every year in the UK there are 150,000 cases of Sepsis, resulting in a staggering 44,000 deaths – more than bowel, breast and prostate cancer combined." - UK Sepsis Trust
