This annual event by SIOPE (the European Society for Pediatric Oncology) is taking place at the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium. The European Society for Paediatric Oncology represents more than 1,500 professional members across 31 European countries. SIOPE is the leading organisation in Europe fighting to ensure that children with cancer receive the best possible treatment and go on to live full and meaningful lives.
The event today is designed to look at what is being done in Europe to tackle childhood cancers and what more needs to be done to improve medical care and hopefully offer a cure.
Awareness is so important in tackling childhood cancer, raising funds and improving medical care. Without this it will be incredibly difficult for cancer research to continue and more and more children and young adults will continue to suffer in such a horrible way.
I am so pleased to see that countries across Europe are taking this responsibility seriously and that such a big annual event has continued to take place since 2002.
